Default Is it time for a new PvP game mode?

With all games you get Random Arenas, Team Arenas, Heroes' Ascent, and Guild versus Guild game formats which offer Player versus Player interaction.

Guild Wars: Factions introduced Alliance Battles, a new twelve versus twelve system in split teams of three (to avoid skill abuse) to capture shrines in order to score points of a cap of 500 to win. Winning shifts a boundary line which affects PvE gameplay, even if only slightly.

Guild Wars: Nightfall introduced Hero Battles, which I still haven't tried one game of, because everyone tells me it's not that fun.

Guild Wars: Eye of the North introduced dungeons, extra heroes, a fantastic storyline, cinematics, and gameplay...for PvE. From a vast majority of my friends, and reviewers online, it should have broughten new elements to PvP besides 100 new skills.

Is it possible to release a new type of game mode, specifically tied with Eye of the North? Why couldn't we find a way to make the Norn Tournament, Polymock, Boxing, etc. all PvP playable? Or perhaps, a new mode of gameplay that can be split completely apart of that of Eye of the North.

You need Factions to play Alliance Battles, and even that is fun. But, I think it's time to offer more. I have almost rank 3 in Gladiator (9 point away, grr.) and rank 6 in Luxon, and rank 4 in Kurzick. It's getting old. I have no time to sit and wait to get into groups in Heroes' Ascent, because no one will take me because I'm rank 2, and there's no way of proving that and only demand rank 3 and above. My guild is a group of friends, not expert players, so GvG is out of the question.

Can we get new friendly elements that could make the game more fun and interesting?

Capture the Flag? Two teams of twelve, try to capture the flag three times in a fifteen minute game full of harmful environmental problems, SOME (keyword) preset skills, and holding the flag disables all skill casting, as well as 10% slower running speed?

King of the Hill? Last one standing wins. If you win, you will be automatically put into the next match with a yellow notifying dot and ding sound repeatedly telling people where you are, so they can get their revenge, even though the King recieves a bonus to stay alive, and can accept possibly 32 people into the match?

Any other suggestions? We need more than just what we have, and even if you're content with what we have, there's a majority of us who don't play PvE a lot, and have circumstances as to why we can't play the other gameplay modes. I really just want some more competitive gameplay.

Jade Quarry and Fort Aspenwood...these are practically dead. Spice them up! They're PvP related, however, they can't really be considered that, due to the fact that there's really no benefit from them. Instead, make it so say, winning teams get 2 of whatever team they are on (for example, if you're Luxon, you get 2 Jade shards) and the losing team recieves 1. The faction is increased by how quickly your team can do certain activities, and make it so that players can take on more roles. Such as, in Aspenwood, have one player have the ability to enlist more aid for either the Kurzick or Luxon side through NPC help at a cost. Have players control the turtles rather than be NPC controlled, etc. Things need to be done to bring them back to life.

Why do you have to be an expert to GvG or even Ha? Do you expect to go into GvG or Ha and play like DF or rawr? GvG at the end of the ladder is a hell of a lot of fun with the right people. Take this from someone who doesnt play GvG at top100 level. and i am only r1 in my hero title.
Just take your guldies put on some half decent bars that you think mgiht work and have a go at it. the worst that could happen is loosing. But as long as you gave your best you cant complain you lost to a better team learn from it.

about your suggestions. You pretty much just suggest Ha. Capture the flag = Relic Runs. KotH=KotH lol

I would like PvP modes that involved more than just 2 sides that doesnt degenerate into a gankfest.

The thing is, as a player, I personally don't really like the aspect for Guild versus Guild, nor do the rest of my guild members. Sure, having a rank would be respectable, and we do have GvG's and we win and lose some, but overall, we have more fun with Alliance Battles or Team Arenas. We just want new modes of gameplay.

Relic runs are relic runs, however. Not capture the flag. They have tiny little maps, and not obstacle related maps that could make it more fun.

Gate control is the closest you'd get to obstacles in this game, and one of the Relic run maps have it. That said, Relic runs are capture the flag. You go into the enemy base, get an object, and bring it back to your base. Whether its a flag or not doesn't matter, the style of gameplay is the same.

The only way to access relic runs is through Heroes' Ascent, and I've answered my dilema with that already. -_-

I hear you man. But here a qustion. Do you have confidence when you play your main. Do you think you have accomplished everything you can? If you do have this confidence then ask higher ranked players if they will take you into their group. as long as you dont suck you will be fine in most cases. all my fame which is 52 i have gotten with r7+ pugs who were kind enough to give me a shot, and i didnt dissapoint them. So what your asking for is basically a more tactical pvp mode right? Well thats GvG. Especially when u climbt the ladder it becomes alot of fun. But you said it aint for you.

In general Ha is a very nice pvp mode but what makes it so shit, is the lame fame farmers who want their r9 tiger or their crystalline sword. I wish they would split Ha up into 2. One mode where u get fame the other where u get the chest once u get to halls. the fame mode would be full of noobs and the halls one where the real game is at^^

But anet are busy with GW2 they wont fix pvp anymore and we defo wont be seeing a new pvp mode

Actually, I'm not looking for tactical, but more messy.

If I really wanted a gameplay mode, it'd be last man standing, up to infinite players can join, it's a tiny box like map with nothing and no where to hide, just blast the crap out of each other until one person is alive. It'd be mass chaos, no point, but it'd be extremely fun for the five minutes of gameplay.

My main is a warrior, and I'm definitely comfortable with a warrior, but I don't see many people taking them now days. Though, Heroes' Ascent and GvG aren't the answers I'm looking for, honestly. I just want more mass oriented gameplay modes. Alliance Battles are fun for me, purely on masses.

I'd really like Fort Aspenwood and Jade Quarry to be fixed, especially Aspenwood. Those were two extremely fun PvP modes, but they're dying due to the lack of circumstance.

I like the modes we currently have, however I would like to see a larger scale gvg type match. I don't know what it would take in coding to implement it, and it may not be viable since many players play on dialup speed connections. What I would love to see if possible is simply co-op guild matches similar to ab, but with say 3 teams of 8 on each side, there would be more than just the single flag to fight over, there would be 2-4 flag stations with different boosts, and a larger fortress on either side with roaming npc mob gangs and possibly puzzles (easy ones) to open gates n such.
The possibility of more than just 2 opposing sides would be interesting as well, but they would have to implement something to make it so that one side cant just say (coming from green team) "hey red team, lets take out blue team, then we can fight it out"
Basicaly im suggesting something that would make all other forms off pvp somewhat obsolete though, so might just be best left for gw2.

How about adding new maps to Alliance Battles first. Haven't players been clamoring for some AB love for a while? Its almost been two years.

A free for all area, some form of mist ruins would be cool, and just pure ownage. Maybe even select builds like a constant PvP snowball arena!

No. They can do one final proper skill balance, fix HA (lame farmer scrubs gtfo) fix HvH (shadowstepping gtfo) improving the AB servers (wait time gtfo).

I've posted this suggestion elsewhere, but I'll stick it here since it's on topic. Remember how the Costume Brawl had these new cap-related maps with GW:EN backgrounds? Also remember how when the HB maps were added to RA/TA, they were sometimes fun, but took WAY too long (major complaint I heard was they were too long for the reward you got: a win). So how about take all those arenas that already exist, shove them all into a new arena specifically tailored to human teams doing a capture points thing (Humanized Hero Battles, if you will). I would play it. My main complaint on HB is how mindless Heroes are.

I'd settle for just making AB's have a map rotation and do away with the current tide of battle crap on the main map. Just do a progression like Saltspray, Etnaran, Grenz, Kanai, etc. so we don't keep playing the same map 10 times in a row.
